Future Scan is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address. Optionally, you may provide a display name and profile photo.
Usage data
We store your search queries and analysis results to provide the service. This includes the queries you submit, the papers retrieved, and the generated analysis reports.
Authentication data
We use magic links for passwordless authentication. We temporarily store authentication tokens and may log IP addresses for security purposes.
How we use your information

Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely on cloud infrastructure with industry-standard encryption. Profile photos are stored on Cloudinary's CDN with secure HTTPS delivery.
Research papers and their metadata are sourced from arXiv, a public repository. The paper data itself is public information; we only store references and analysis results associated with your account.
Third-party services
OpenAI
We use OpenAI's embedding API to generate semantic representations of research papers. Paper abstracts are sent to OpenAI for processing but are not stored by OpenAI.
Anthropic
We use Claude AI to analyze research clusters and generate summaries. Paper metadata is sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
Cloudinary
Profile photos are hosted on Cloudinary's secure CDN platform.
arXiv
Research paper metadata is retrieved from arXiv's public API. arXiv is operated by Cornell University.
Your rights
Access: You can view all your data through your dashboard and profile pages
Modification: Update your display name and profile photo at any time
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from your profile page
Export: Export your analysis reports as PDFs
Data retention
We retain your account data and analysis history for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, queries, analyses) is permanently deleted from our systems. Profile photos are removed from Cloudinary's CDN.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (session management). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
